Crazy Kids and Critters August 2010

Kids do the weirdest things. Asher always wants me to take pictures of him when his face is messy, and Jason wants me to take pictures of him making weird faces and climbing things. I threw their lastest critter picture in here as well.

New London Submarine Museum 8-27-2010

I had been planning to take the kids to the sub museum all summer long, but we didn't manage to go until the Friday before school started. Liam, Dallin's friend, came with us, as well as Megan and Topher Huff. It was a small place, but the kids really enjoyed it. Going on the USS Nautilus was exciting, but it's a good thing Megan came with us, because I chickened out at the last second. Claustrophobia can be inconvenient!

Jason was VERY excited about the swans

Misquamicut, RI 8-19-2010

It was a busy summer, so this is the only time we went to the ocean. We went with our friends, Katherine and Nathan Paulhus. Everyone had a great time, especially Marin. She couldn't wait to get in the water, so she would run out to the waves. Then, when the water would hit her feet, she would turn around and run back up the beach. I wish we could've gone more!

Sam's Visit 8-6-2010

My dear friend Hester (Soo-wook), who moved back to Korea 1 1/2 years ago, sent her son Sam to visit. He went to a Korean summer camp with friends, and came to visit us too. Hester sent gifts for us, which included Pokemon stickers, clothes for Marin, and a wooden mask. Obviously the mask was a big hit. We took Sam swimming and canoeing at the Adzima's pond.

ALASKA!!!!!! July 2010

The Handerdum Clan reunion took place in Alaska this year. It may have been a long and tiring jouney up there, but it was worth it!

Lay-over fun

All my little pack mules.

Shayne went fishing the first night we were there.

The kids all got a chance to catch fish too.

Believe it or not, we are fishing at midnight!

Cousin Camp - M.O.O.S.E

The grown-up kids when on a cruise to see the Aialik Glacier. It was tons of fun, but I got REALLY sea sick.

Hiking to Exit Glacier in Seward

Hiking to the Russian River Falls

Below are lots of pictures of our adventure at the Field Station of the Center for Alaskan Costal Studies on Peterson Bay. We stayed in yurts, explored tide pools, had a campfire with Dirty Dan, and played in the touch tanks. Shayne, Dallin, and Miles even got to go sea kayaking at the end.

Below are pictures from the Talent Show that Dallin helped organize on Uncle Miles' birthday.

Uncle Miles in the Birthday Spanking Machine

Shayne, Dallin, and Miles got to go deep sea fishing for Halibut. It was fun, but everyone got seasick.

Below are pictures from our morning digging for clams. It wasn't fruitful at all, but still fun!

The kids are helping Papa do the Polar Bear Dip.

Below are pictures from a roadside wood art shop we went to with the Hansens after everyone else had gone home.

This was an amazing trip that I hope our kids remember for the rest of their lives (because we probably won't ever be able to do it again!)
