Pack Meeting - FINALLY

I realized about 3 weeks before Miles' birthday that he was nowhere near earning his Wolf badge in Cub Scouts. The Cub Scout leader said "no big deal, he can have until the first pack meeting after his birthday to finish his Wolf." Well, the pack meeting was scheduled for 2 days after his birthday! No boy in our family was going to miss out on his badge, so we got to work. To make things more interesting, I decided that Dallin needed to finish his Webelo badge as well, though his birthday wasn't for another 3 months. With lots of hard work and forced family fun, both boys finished their work just in time. But, the pack meeting was postponed, due to snow, and rescheduled for the next week. No problem, it just gave me more time to get their uniforms put together correctly (since we didn't go to the scout shop to buy them, in the snow, until the day of the meeting, which didn't happen.) Of course, I put off working on them until the next week. But, just as I finished the last stitch on the last patch, 1 hour before the meeting, it was postponed due to snow, AGAIN! So, these pictures are from the 3 attempt. Thankfully, it didn't snow that day! They're not fabulous, but they're proof that it finally happened!

Jason's Birthday - February 23rd

February is a VERY busy month for us!


Breakfast in bed, of course.


This is the birthDAY cake. I get to pick the cake on the kids' actual birthdays (well, not really, but I can suggest simpler cakes at least), and they get to pick the cakes for their parties. Here's the funny part, though. The birthday boy always gets to pick what we have for dinner. Jason has interesting eating habits, and doesn't actually eat much at all. So, he chose to have a sugar cereal buffet. After gorging himself on Fruit Loops and Lucky Charms, he didn't want cake! We sang to him, but saved cake and candles for the next night!




The party (with 14 5-6yearolds that I barely survivied)! Jason had a Danger Boy party. Danger Boy is a superhero that he created. We played Pin the Power on the Bad Guy (Danger Boys can use fire, water, wind, or electricity to fight bad guys), Find the Bad Guys (drawings hidden outside), and Pass the Package (one of Shayne's favorites from childhood). We had to postpone Jason's party one week because I was sick, so it was actually the first week in March.

Valentine's Day

V-Day is a double whammy at our house with Miles' birthday. Miles prefers that we focus entirely on him, however.



Good Morning!



Miles was the Valentine Prince this year. This is a second string costume, after the first FABULOUS costume I was making him turned out too small!

This was from Miles' Percy Jackson Birthday Party. We had fun making it up, since there aren't Percy Jackson party supplies yet. They played capture the flag in the snow, of course!

Snow Hiking!

Shayne loves to hike all year, so he took the boys out on a snow hike. Marin and I stayed home where it was warm, and it's probably best I did. I wouldn't have let them get anywhere near that river! But, they had a blast sliding on ice, and breaking off giant pieces.

Basketball

I really wanted to put the boys in basketball this year, but I don't think I thought it through. We had 2 practice nights and 3-4 games/practices on Saturdays for 10 weeks. Dallin and Miles hated it at first, but learned to really love it, while Jason was thrilled from start to finish.



The picture isn't great, but Dallin right in the middle. He improved SO much over the season. This is at the end, so he's actually paying attention to what's going on!

Jason went to a basketball clinic every Saturday morning, and he LOVED it.

Pig Tails

I finally figured out the pigtail thing. Shayne and I think she looks pretty cute, but the boys don't like it. They say she looks too old.

West Hartford Children's Museum

I was supposed to start actually blogging when I set up a blog, so I'm going to back track a bit. In January I took all 5 kids to the West Hartford Children's Museum on my own. My first outing without Shayne after having a baby is always a monmentous event for me. Thankfully, we survived. My secret: only go to children's museums on teacher work days. There were only 2 other groups of kids in the entire place!



The giant bubble maker is always a hit.

Jason ALWAYS wants to go to the museum with the jeep. He LIVES for sitting behind the wheel of this thing.



Dallin wants to be a meteoroligist, so he thought this was pretty cool.
